A FEW PLOT TWISTS LATER…. HERE WE ARE.
MY STORY
I’ve spent nearly nine years in the beauty industry, and my journey has been anything but straightforward.
I’ve built a clientele, created my own treatment space, opened a training academy, navigated a pandemic, stepped into permanent makeup, walked away from my business, worked within a salon and eventually found my way back to where I started.
Behind the bed, working with clients, and building something of my own.
But every version of my career taught me something.
Not just about lashes, brows or running a business, but about what good education can change.
THE COURSE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING.
Somewhere in the middle of all of that, I invested in a permanent makeup course that completely changed the way I thought about education.
Not because it was incredible.
Because I left feeling overwhelmed, unsupported and nowhere near as confident as I should have felt after investing in professional training.
It made me realise that completing a course and receiving a certificate aren’t the same thing as actually feeling prepared.
And I knew that if I ever returned to education, I wanted to do things differently.
WHY I EDUCATE
EDUCATION SHOULD GIVE YOU MORE THAN INFORMATION.
You should understand what you’re doing.
You should understand why you’re doing it.
And when something doesn’t go exactly to plan, you should have enough understanding to work out what to do next.
That’s the kind of education I want to create.
Supportive without hand holding. Detailed without making things unnecessarily complicated. Practical enough to translate into real clients and real working days.
Because perfect results in a training environment are one thing.
Knowing how to think for yourself behind the bed is another.
STILL BEHIND THE BED
I’m not teaching from a career I left behind.
I’m still an artist. I’m still working with clients. I’m still learning, troubleshooting and adapting.
I see different eye shapes, different natural lashes, different expectations and the occasional appointment where absolutely nothing wants to cooperate.
That matters to me.
Because the education I create isn’t based solely on how something should work.
It’s shaped by how it actually works in the real world.
WHERE I AM NOW
BUILDING THE EDUCATION I WISH I’D HAD.
Today, I work from my private treatment space in Canterbury while building By Lauren Education alongside my client business.
The next chapter is bigger.
I’m developing lash and brow education across online learning, in-person training, advanced 1:1 education and artist resources.
Everything will be built around the same principles.
MODERN. DETAILED. SUPPORTIVE. PRACTICAL.
No unnecessary gatekeeping. No teaching a sequence of steps without explaining the reasoning behind them.
Just education designed to help artists understand their craft, trust their decisions and leave more confident in their work.
Because when you invest your time and money into education, it should feel worth every penny.
