8 years in beauty. A few plot twists later… here we are.
I’ve been in the beauty industry for 8 years and my journey has been anything but straightforward.
I built a client base, built my home cabin salon, just about survived a pandemic, opened my own training academy, closed it, stepped into PMU, walked away from my business for 8 months, joined a salon, left a salon… and eventually found my way back to where I started: working full time from my own private cabin and building an education brand that actually means something to me.
Somewhere in the middle of all of that, I took a PMU course that completely changed the way I think about education.
Not because it was amazing.
Because it was one of the worst training experiences i’ve ever had.
I remember leaving feeling overwhelmed, unsupported and with zero confidence. Which is completely different to how I should have felt after investing in professional training.
And I would never want another artist to feel like that after learning with me.
Why i educate
That experience made me realise how much good education matters.
Training shouldn’t just give you information and just send you on your way.
You should leave understanding what your doing, why your doing it and what to do when something doesn’t go exactly to plan.
I want my education to feel supportive, honest and genuinely useful. Built around the realities of working with real clients, not just creating the perfect result in a training environment.
I’m still an artist. I’m still learning. I’m still behind the bed working with clients.
And that makes me a better educator.
Where I am now
Today, I’m back working full time from my private treatment space in Canterbury while building By Lauren Education alongside my client business.
My focus is creating the kind of education I wish I’d experienced myself:
Modern. Detailed. Supportive. Practical.
Education that helps you understand your technique, trust your decisions and leave feeling genuinely more confident in your work.
